Mysterium Events Preview

While we put together our final schedule, we wanted to take a moment to talk about a couple of events that the organizing committee is putting together.

First, we’re bringing back the Unconference. If you don’t know what that is, it’s basically a participant-driven conference where the topics of discussion are chosen by the participants. What makes it so exciting is that you never know what conversation you’ll find yourself having or who you’ll be listening or talking to. For example, one of the more interesting and lively discussions last year was about Misunderstood Villains in the Myst games. Of course, you know that debating lore is a favorite pastime at Mysterium!

And, it wouldn’t be Mysterium without our signature event: What Would Atrus Build?! Every year, Atrus needs our help to construct something out of junk and conveniently available craft supplies. Try adjusting the slider…on your hot glue gun to help your team win. But don’t take too long! Your team only has an hour to build something before you have to demonstrate how it works. Last year Atrus needed help with some kitchen equipment after a freak accident destroyed most of what he had. Who knows what Atrus will need help with this year…but you can be sure it’ll be fun!

See you real soon!

Location Info & Shirt Order Deadline Extension

Shorah!

Can it be that Mysterium is really only 8 weeks away? I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to be in Orlando soaking up the sun and seeing all of my fellow Cyan fans.

I’ve got two updates for you today.

First, the early-bird package of registration + a shirt ends tonight, but we’ve decided to extend T-shirt orders for 1 week. That means that you can still order a T-shirt with your standard badge until June 16th, so visit the Registration page today!

The second thing I’ve got for you is our newly expanded Location Guide.

One of the nice things about taking Mysterium to new cities is the chance to get to spend some time exploring the host city. We’ve never been to the Southeast before, and Orlando’s a great choice since there’s so much to do. Obviously there are theme parks, like Disney, Universal Studios, and Sea World. There are also some really cool attractions, like the Orlando Eye, the Orlando Science Center, Kennedy Space Center, and more.

Visit our Location Guide to see what the team thinks is awesome in Orlando. I know a bunch of people are going to be coming early or staying longer. Want to go to a theme park but think it would be more fun with friends? We’ve started a post in our Facebook group to help you find an exploring buddy or three!

We’ll be updating this guide over the next few weeks to add in more things to do, places to eat, and other items of interest, so keep checking in.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you in 2 months!

Final Conbook/Event Reminder!

Shorah all!

There are only TWO DAYS LEFT to get your conbook and events submissions in for Mysterium 2017! The deadlines for these are this Friday, June 9th!

We haven’t received many submissions for the conbook this year, and right now it looks like we don’t have enough content to print one. If you’ve been planning to submit something but have been putting it off, please submit it by the end of the week! You can find all the details about how to submit here.

Event submissions are also closing. Want to run a panel? A gaming session? Be sure to get them in before the deadline! You can find event submission details here.

Roundup Reminders

Shorah, folks!

Two and a half months remain before Mysterium! Are you excited yet? I know I’m excited to spend a fun weekend with all of you, talking about Myst and Obduction and enjoying the Sunshine State.

Have you booked your hotel room yet? If you need a reminder, our hotel will be the Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando International Drive Jamaican Court. We’ve secured an exclusive convention rate of $119/night.  To book your hotel room, please visit our online booking site here. Remember that the group room rate is only available till July 3rd.

I know several attendees have expressed interest in staying additional days in Orlando.  Between theme parks, museums, restaurants, and shopping experiences, there’s a lot of things to explore in Orlando. We’ll be putting together a guide to the city soon. Please don’t forget to extend your room rate if you need to! See here for details on extending your reservation.

In other news, we’ve been asked about the schedule. We’re still putting one together, because we’re still taking event submissions. If there’s a panel or event you’d like to do, please go here to submit it to us. The event submission deadline is June 9th.

Finally, while we’re discussing submissions, the conbook is still open! We take art and stories, so please check out here for more info on submitting. The conbook deadline is also June 9th.
