Mysterium 2020 Registration and Hotel Reservations Now Open!

Happy March everyone!

We are excited to announce that registration and hotel reservations are now open! As is tradition, with registration also comes the announcement of this year’s t-shirt design. We’re so excited to share what the community created this year, so let’s get right to it.

T-Shirts

In the front of this year’s shirt, we have a depiction of the Jefferson Memorial superimposed on the Tomahna book vault. This eye-catching design was created by Katherine “Squee” White.

On the back, we have a stunning depiction of Spire and Haven designed by none other than Claire “Shoom’lah” Hummel.

We’re so excited to have both of these designs for our shirts this year. For more information, please see our T-Shirts page. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who submitted T-shirt artwork this year. Even if your design was not selected, we hope to feature your work elsewhere during Mysterium.

Hotel

This year, Mysterium will take place at the Westin Alexandria Old Town in Alexandria, VA. Located just a few minutes walk from Alexandria and King Street stations, this hotel offers easy access to downtown Alexandria and Washington, D.C. proper. We’ve secured a rate of $100/night for both single and double rooms.

For more information about our hotel, including links to make your reservation, visit our updated Location page.

Registration

Mysterium 2020 registration is now open! From now until May 31st, you can purchase a weekend registration for $25, or a premium registration (weekend + shirt) for $40. That’s a $5 discount off of the individual items! Starting June 1st, the price will increase and shirts will not be available for pre-order.

We have once again included a space for you to indicate your pronouns on your badge, should you wish. Read more and register today over on our Registration page.

Reminders

As a reminder, we are still accepting submissions for events, enamel pins, activity book pages, as well as writing and artwork. The deadline for pin design submissions is right around the corner on March 15th, so be sure to send your ideas in. All information about submissions can be found on the Submissions page.

New Submission Rights Policy

With Cyan’s help, we have written a new licensing/copyright policy for all submitted works (logos, pin designs, etc). Previously, all works submitted to Mysterium became the property of Cyan Worlds Inc. Going forward you will retain copyright of your own work, but grant Cyan and FMG/Mysterium a perpetual license to it. For the complete details and legalese, see the Submissions section on our Policies page. This applies immediately to all future submissions, and retroactively to all pin design and activity book submissions for Mysterium 2020.

It’s hard to believe that Mysterium is just around the corner! We’ll have more updates for you all soon.

Mysterium 2020 Art Submissions

Greetings! Hopefully everyone has recovered from their Thanksgiving food comas.

We’re pleased to announce it’s now time to send in your art submissions for Mysterium 2020! This year we’ll have four categories:

  • T-shirt design
  • Pins
  • Activity book – NEW!
  • Writing & artwork table

Deadlines will be staggered through early-to-mid 2020. Read on for details.

T-shirt design

Now that we have a theme selected, it’s time to create T-shirts. We encourage you to incorporate Sirrus vs Achenar, Red vs Blue, Haven and Spire into your design. Also feel free to tie in our host city of Washington, DC. If your design is selected, you will receive a free Mysterium shirt! The deadline for this will be Sunday, February 16. More information can be found at our T-Shirt Design Submissions page.

Pins

First introduced in 2018, we are once again planning a set of enamel pins. If you aren’t up for creating a logo but still want a creative outlet, pin design is an easier and faster process. The deadline for these will be Sunday, March 15. Check out the Pin Submissions page for more info, and look at the 2019 designs for inspiration:

Activity book

New this year, we’re putting together an activity book for Mysterium. Want to create a coloring book page? Word search? Crossword puzzle? Submit it by Sunday, April 19. See our Activity Book Submissions page for more details.

Writing & artwork table

Want an opportunity to showcase your Cyan-related artwork or writing? We will once again have a display table to show off your talent! Annacat has again graciously offered to handle this. Details can be found here. All content must be in by Friday, July 31.

That’s it for now. More news to come soon!

Mysterium 2019 – Registration, Logos, & Hotel Info

Greetings all!

We are excited to announce that registration and hotel reservations are now open! First, though, we want to show you the winning logo submissions for this year’s t-shirts.

Logos

Above we have our lovely front logo, made by Xemylixa. Below we have our awesome back logo, by calumTraveler.

We love both of these logos, and we think they’ll look beautiful on the shirts. You can get more information about the shirts on our T-Shirt page.

Hotels

This year, Mysterium will take place at the Ruby River Hotel in downtown Spokane. This hotel is in walking distance of the downtown core and Riverfront Park, and overlooks the Spokane River. We’ve secured a rate of $119/night for one-bed rooms, and $129/night for two-bed rooms (plus tax).

To book your room, and for more information about the hotel and surrounding area, please see our Location page.

Registration

In addition to hotel reservations, Mysterium registration is now open! From now until June 1st, you can purchase a weekend registration for $35, or a premium registration (weekend + shirt + coloring book) for $60. That’s a $5 discount off of the individual items! After June 1st, the price will increase and shirts/books will not be available.

We are also introducing a space for personal pronouns on our badges this year. We’ve heard attendees ask for it over the past few years; in the interest of creating the most welcoming and enjoyable environment we can, we decided it was time to introduce the option. Adding pronouns to your badge will be 100% optional, but all staff badges will include them.

You can get all the details and purchase your registration at the Registration page.

We made the decision to raise registration prices by $10 this year, and we want to be fully transparent about why. As described in our FAQ, registration prices go towards the cost of renting the hotel space, equipment rentals, swag, and convention expenses. Unfortunately, the cost of hotel space, especially in popular cities, has been increasing quickly in recent years. In addition, this year we have invited quite a few special guests, and part of the registration increase will go towards offsetting their travel costs. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions about registration.

Reminders

Remember to submit any event/panel/activity ideas using our submissions form! Also, be sure to join in the Mass Mysteria city planning discussions on our discord – details here.

We expect to have a very exciting special guest announcement in a few weeks.

Until then,
-Taniith

Mysterium 2018: Hotel Details, T-Shirts, and Registration

Hello Everyone!

We know we’ve been quiet lately, but we have been hard at work getting everything in order for Mysterium 2018. We have a lot to announce, so let’s get started.

Hotel

We are excited to announce that our hotel has been selected and is ready to accept reservations. Mysterium 2018 will be held in the Holiday Inn St. Louis – Downtown Convention Center, located only a few blocks away from The Gateway Arch! We have secured an exclusive rate of $119/night, which includes a reduced parking rate of $5/day and complimentary breakfast.

For more information about the hotel, booking and extending your stay, and transportation options, please visit our Location page.

T-Shirts

The logos from Mysterium 2018 have been selected. We received several entries and picked the two we felt best represented our theme this year.

This year’s front design was created by Drew and represents everyone’s favorite slider-based sound wave puzzle. The back design was created by laughingpineapple and combines Selenitic’s maze sounds with Stoneship’s compass rose.

The shirt will be navy blue and available in Small to 3XL in both unisex and women’s cuts. If you will be attending Mysterium 2018, you can pre-order a t-shirt right now with your registration! Please note that shirts are only available on-site. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship shirts under any circumstances. T-Shirt pre-orders end June 8th. For more information, please see our T-Shirt page.

Registration

And now, for the big announcement we’ve all been waiting for: Registration for Mysterium 2018 is now open! Until June 8th, you can register for the entire weekend for $25 or register for the full weekend and a t-shirt for $45. After June 8th, prices increase and shirts will no longer be available to pre-order. For more information, and to register now, check out our Registration page.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all this August!

Location Info & Shirt Order Deadline Extension

Shorah!

Can it be that Mysterium is really only 8 weeks away? I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to be in Orlando soaking up the sun and seeing all of my fellow Cyan fans.

I’ve got two updates for you today.

First, the early-bird package of registration + a shirt ends tonight, but we’ve decided to extend T-shirt orders for 1 week. That means that you can still order a T-shirt with your standard badge until June 16th, so visit the Registration page today!

The second thing I’ve got for you is our newly expanded Location Guide.

One of the nice things about taking Mysterium to new cities is the chance to get to spend some time exploring the host city. We’ve never been to the Southeast before, and Orlando’s a great choice since there’s so much to do. Obviously there are theme parks, like Disney, Universal Studios, and Sea World. There are also some really cool attractions, like the Orlando Eye, the Orlando Science Center, Kennedy Space Center, and more.

Visit our Location Guide to see what the team thinks is awesome in Orlando. I know a bunch of people are going to be coming early or staying longer. Want to go to a theme park but think it would be more fun with friends? We’ve started a post in our Facebook group to help you find an exploring buddy or three!

We’ll be updating this guide over the next few weeks to add in more things to do, places to eat, and other items of interest, so keep checking in.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you in 2 months!
