Mysterium 2025: Buckhead Edition

Hello everyone!

First, thank you all for your t-shirt and pin submissions. We can’t wait to make our selections!

Now, it’s time for the announcement you’ve all been eagerly awaiting…

Hotel and Location

We are excited to announce that Mysterium 2025 will be held just north of Downtown Atlanta at the Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Buckhead! We have negotiated a rate of $129/night with complimentary breakfast and discounted parking included. Both single and double rooms are available.

Rooms must be booked via our group link by July 9th. After this date, rooms may be released back to the public and the above price is no longer guaranteed.

Please visit our Location page for full information on the venue and how to book.

If you have any questions or issues during booking that are not addressed on the Location page, please let us know on Discord.

Event Submissions

As a reminder, we are accepting event submissions through April 30th. If there’s something you’d like to run or see at Mysterium this year, please take a look.

We thank you for your patience and cannot wait to see you all. For now, we’ll leave you with… something to pique your curiosity.

Eat a Peach

Hello! We are ready to wrap up Mysterium 2024 and kick off 2025!

Survey Highlights

Thank you to all who filled out the 2024 survey. A few trends we saw in the responses:
  • Guildmaster was really popular. We will try to continue doing game shows in the future.
  • There is a general demand for interactive activities such as WWCB and Ransom Notes. We will aim to have a few of these each year.
  • Several people expressed an interest in more excursions. We had a great attendance at the unofficial outing to the Biodome this year, and Atlanta has a number of options, so we should be able to do something again next year.
  • We have received a fair amount of feedback on our COVID policies and questions as to when/whether they will be changing. We will discuss these for next year.

YouTube Videos

The videos from this year are now all up on YouTube. Check out the playlist on our channel.

Mysterium 2025

We will be heading to Atlanta next year! It will be a while before we announce dates, but as usual, it will be in July or August. And leading the con next year will be our co-chairs:

Drew Salad (Yuki)

Drew has “attended” seven Mysteria since 2011. Why quotes? Well, he’s somehow always been on the committee. Since year one. Weird, isn’t it? Outside of Mysterium, Drew leads Apple device management and Zoom platform administration for a large university. His favorite games include Riven, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, and Mario Kart.
You can usually find him repeatedly planning large events and trips (for whatever reason), studying Japanese, or taking pictures of landscapes and flowers.

Fant Steele (Curator)

Curator attended his first MYSTerium in 2020 virtually. His first in-person MYSTerium was in 2022 in Denver Colorado. He joined the committee following the 2023 convention in Spokane.
Curator can also be found doing various things relating to the Unwritten RPG published by Inkspark including a monthly stream showcasing various facets of the game.
During the rest of the year Curator manages a security team for a fortune 500 company and additionally manages (or attempts to) his three children. Aside from the MYST franchise, he can be regularly found playing a number of games from the Zelda and Monkey Island series, the occasional Mario Party bout, and odd indie games like Kindergarten or The Last Door.
His other hobbies include writing, GMing for a smattering of TTRPGs, camping, miniature painting, and woodworking.  You may have even seen some of his Unwritten based creations at a MYSTerium in the past.

Thank you again to all who joined us this year in Montreal or on our Twitch stream, and we were pleased to see how many newcomers there were! We look forward to seeing you next year in Atlanta.

Signing off,

2024 Hotel

Hello! We have another major announcement: the hotel for Mysterium 2024! Read on for more info.

Hotel

Mysterium 2024 will be held at the Alt Hotel Quartier Dix30 in Brossard. Single and double queen rooms are available in our block, which can be booked directly through the hotel. The deadline for booking is June 11. After that date, the hotel may release unsold rooms to the general public. For information on the hotel, pricing, parking, and booking, see our Location page.

Last Call for Pins

Pin submissions are still open until March 31. If you want to get a design in you still have a week! See our Submissions page for details.
Event submissions are still open until May 12 as well.

February Prompt Winners

For February’s topic of “Ice”, we had Harley with https://archiveofourown.org/works/53631289. The visual winner was redwoodrroad’s image of Rime:

Note: for the offseason, we are switching our prompts to bi-monthly, so March’s topic of “Memories” will still be up through the end of April.

More to announce soon, including registration and special guests!

T-Shirts and Passports

Shorah! We’re getting underway with planning for Mysterium 2024 and have a few updates to provide.

Traveling to Canada

Since Mysterium will be in Canada next year, it’s important to pay attention to any immigration requirements. There are a few links on the Location page to help direct you. Most importantly: if you don’t have a passport, don’t procrastinate, since it can take a few months for the application to be processed.
Also, and this cannot be overstressed: rely on official sources for immigration information. We are simply providing these links for convenience. Do not rely on advice from our Discord server or any other unofficial source.

2024 Theme and T-Shirt Designs

We have chosen a theme for Mysterium! Since this will be the 20th anniversary of Revelation, we’re going with Serenia (think of Montreal’s waterways).
On that note, we’re also opening t-shirt design submissions. Submissions will be accepted until February 25. Details are available on the T-shirt design page but in general we will look favorably upon designs that incorporate this year’s theme and the host city.

July Creativity Prompt

In recognition of the variety of creative submissions we receive, we decided to choose two winners for July’s topic of Sun: one for visual, and one for written.
The written winner is Salvo Ludus with the story “Gehn’s Sun”.

The visual winner is Grayson aka redwoodrroad for this image of Gehn’s lab with the sunlight streaming in through the windows:

There are still a few days left for August’s topic of Blazing.
That’s it for now! We’ll have more soon on additional submissions and 2024 logistics.

Registration Capacity, Overflow, Bus, Oh my!

Registration

We are thrilled to have so many of you interested in coming to Mysterium this year!

We have reached our maximum capacity of 250 in-person attendees, as Cyan can only accommodate 250 people. That being said, we have opened up 25 additional tickets at a discounted rate of $40 for those who are not interested in visiting Cyan. If you are interested in purchasing this type of ticket, you may do so by following this link. Additional “Standard Registration” slots may open up if people choose to let us know that they are not interested in touring Cyan on Saturday.

To that end, if you have purchased a ticket already and are interested in changing over to this type of ticket please use this form and we will be in touch with next steps soon.

Bus

A charter bus will be available for those who need a ride to and from Cyan on Saturday. We will have 48 seats available on the bus. To reserve your seat, please log in to Convention Master by following this link, go to the swag section and select Coach Bus to and from Cyan. A non-refundable fee of $15 will apply.

June’s Prompt

It’s almost time for Mysterium, ya’ll. So the creative prompt for June is “Scream”. Interpret this however you wish!

Scream into the void of the starry expanse, the scream of the piranha chicken, or the scream of being eaten by a whark! You decide.

We’re almost there! We’ve got some great stuff coming soon.
Have a great evening!
