Mysterium 2018: Hotel Details, T-Shirts, and Registration

Hello Everyone!

We know we’ve been quiet lately, but we have been hard at work getting everything in order for Mysterium 2018. We have a lot to announce, so let’s get started.

Hotel

We are excited to announce that our hotel has been selected and is ready to accept reservations. Mysterium 2018 will be held in the Holiday Inn St. Louis – Downtown Convention Center, located only a few blocks away from The Gateway Arch! We have secured an exclusive rate of $119/night, which includes a reduced parking rate of $5/day and complimentary breakfast.

For more information about the hotel, booking and extending your stay, and transportation options, please visit our Location page.

T-Shirts

The logos from Mysterium 2018 have been selected. We received several entries and picked the two we felt best represented our theme this year.

This year’s front design was created by Drew and represents everyone’s favorite slider-based sound wave puzzle. The back design was created by laughingpineapple and combines Selenitic’s maze sounds with Stoneship’s compass rose.

The shirt will be navy blue and available in Small to 3XL in both unisex and women’s cuts. If you will be attending Mysterium 2018, you can pre-order a t-shirt right now with your registration! Please note that shirts are only available on-site. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship shirts under any circumstances. T-Shirt pre-orders end June 8th. For more information, please see our T-Shirt page.

Registration

And now, for the big announcement we’ve all been waiting for: Registration for Mysterium 2018 is now open! Until June 8th, you can register for the entire weekend for $25 or register for the full weekend and a t-shirt for $45. After June 8th, prices increase and shirts will no longer be available to pre-order. For more information, and to register now, check out our Registration page.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all this August!

Mysterium 2018: St. Louis, MO

!Shorah tishmahtee

As announced this past year in Orlando, we are excited to be hosting Mysterium 2018 in The Gateway City, St. Louis, Missouri from August 3rd-5th, 2018!

The Theme

Continuing with the trend from last year, we have chosen not to have a specific Age as our theme. This year, our theme will be: Sounds of the Ages.

Logo Contest

With our theme announced, we are officially opening our Logo Contest! We encourage you to integrate this theme, along with inspiration from any Cyan game, in your designs. You can submit designs for the front and/or back of our shirts. More information about the design requirements and submission process can be found on the Logo Contest page. Submissions are due by by Friday, February 23rd.

Who’s running this show?

An excellent question! This year, the Mysterium Committee is being co-chaired by Odo and Drea!

If you’ve attended sometime in the last ten years, you might know him as “That Fellow Behind the Reg Table.” Odo has an extensive history of coordinating our location and liaising with the hotel events manager. As someone who has spent time working in St. Louis previously, he is excited to make Mysterium a reality in the Gateway to the West.

Drea has been our unofficial official puzzle maker for many years. A long-standing attendee and Committee member, Drea is always full of ideas for making Mysterium a fun and engaging experience for everyone.

We’ve already begun planning some exciting events and excursions that we hope to share with you all soon! That’s all we have for now. We should have some more information ready to announce in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Cyan Q&A

Greetings All!

This year at Mysterium, we’ll be having a live Q&A stream with members of Cyan’s Obduction team, and that means we need questions for them! So if you have a burning question you’ve been longing to ask Cyan, now is your chance. Just follow this link and fill out the form: https://goo.gl/forms/xGBKW3x5gVDFSn7G3

You can submit as many questions as you want, and all topics are welcome. That said, the main focus of the Q&A will be on a post-mortem of Obduction’s development so far, so we’re especially looking for Obduction related questions.

Questions will be accepted until Sunday, July 23rd.

Registration and Hotel

Quick reminder that registration will remain open until next Friday, July 21st. Also, if you still need a hotel room and haven’t booked one yet, we may be able to get you a room at our convention rate. Please see here for details: https://www.mysterium.net/location/#hotel

Other Bits

If you are planning to visit any of Disney’s parks while you’re in Orlando, I highly recommend getting your tickets now so that you can sign up for Disney’s FastPass service. It’s free, and it lets you skip the line at popular rides, but the slots fill up well in advance!

Finally, continuing our showcase of what committee members are most looking forward to in Orlando, here’s mine:

  • Way too much sugar at this place across the street from the hotel (https://sugarfactory.com/location/orlando/)
  • Seeing my Myst family
  • Fancy afternoon tea at a fancy Disney hotel
  • Defending Esher and Myst V to anyone and everyone! … as usual

Stay tuned for more info later this week!

Don’t Forget To Book Your Hotel!

Shorah all!

We want to remind everyone who’s planning to attend that the last day to book a guaranteed room in our block at the hotel is Monday, July 3! If you haven’t reserved your room yet, check out our locations page for more info about the hotel, or go straight to our booking page here.

If you’ve already got your room but are staying longer than the convention runs, have you requested your extension? You can book online for Thursday the 3rd through Tuesday the 8th, but you’ll need to use our extension form to request a longer stay.

The committee can’t believe Mysterium is only 5 weeks away.

The committee has been putting together a list of what they’re most looking forward to at Mysterium. My list is:

  • Seeing all my Mysterium friends
  • The theme for this year’s version of WWAB (it’s gonna be great!)
  • The Mysterium pool parties
  • Visiting EPCOT!
  • Being back in my home state again – ahh, sunshine

Can’t wait to see you soon,

Location Guide Updates

Shorah!

Two weeks ago, we posted a quick overview of major attractions in the Orlando area that you might want to check out while you’re at Mysterium. Today, we’re unveiling our more detailed location guide.

The guide should help you get acquainted with Orlando before Mysterium happens. We have a section on transportation options and how to get to the hotel from wherever you arrive in the city. We’ve got an expanded list of attractions you might want to visit – not just theme parks, we’ve got some museums and cultural attractions in there too. I know some people were planning theme park trips on our Facebook page, so if you want to go with others, try asking there. If you’re looking to bring home some souvenirs, we’ve listed places to shop. There’s also a local’s guide to great places to eat, including a few places for people with special dietary needs (like your con chair).

We hope this helps you plan your trip. If you’ve got any questions, please leave a comment or drop us an email. The chairs are happy to help you plan for a magical Mysterium!

As always, we’re looking forward to seeing you in Orlando!
