Paper People & Registration Deadline

Greetings All

We are officially opening Paper People submissions as of today. If you can’t make it to Mysterium, but want to be there in spirit, you can come in the form of a picture. Send a picture of  whatever represents you (yourself, your avatar, etc) to paperpeople@mysterium.net. Please also let us know in the text of the email what your preferred name is. Submissions must be made by next Thursday, July 28th. We know that’s not a lot of time, and we apologize for the short notice.

We had some issues last year with submitted content. Please only submit an image. Don’t advertise your website or online store or the like in text in the image, or we won’t be able to include it.

Registration Deadline

If you haven’t pre-registered yet, time is running out! Online registration is available until next Monday, July 25th. You can register here: http://www.mysterium.net/registration/. While you’re there, we have 3 spots left for the “Curse of the Pharaoh’s Tomb” escape room on Saturday night. Grab ’em before they’re gone!

Three Weeks Until Mysterium 2016

Greetings All

Mysterium is just over 3 weeks away! With that in mind, we have some information for you on the best ways of getting to the hotel from the airport. You can find that on our Getting To Mysterium 2016 page! It includes options for public transit, as well as a discounted airport shuttle or car rental. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

More news:

Mystery Escape

If you have registered, you should have received an email about our escape rooms tickets. We have partnered with Mystery Escape Room in Salt Lake to reserve three escape rooms for Mysterium attendees on Saturday night. As of this posting, one room is completely booked and another only has two slots left. So, if you are interested, you should go grab tickets while you can!

If you have never been to an escape room before, it is a bit like a real-life Myst age. 12 people are “locked” in a room and must discover clues and solve puzzles in an effort to escape before time runs out. If you attended Mysterium last year, we you probably saw the small one that we built at the hotel. These rooms are always a lot of fun, and I highly recommend getting a ticket.

Please note that if the third room isn’t mostly booked by this friday (July 15), that room will unfortunately need to be cancelled and any tickets refunded. So if you are on the fence about going, you have until Friday to decide.

Chuck Carter Signing

A couple weeks ago we posted our official schedule. In particular, we wanted to note that on Friday afternoon from 4:30-5:30 (after the Starry Expanse presentation), we will have a meet and greet with Chuck Carter. You’re welcome to bring items for him to sign – in fact, we encourage it! That said, please try to keep it to only one or two items.

That’s all for now! Until next time,

Mysterium Schedule

Greetings all!

With just over a month until Mysterium 2016, it is time to announce the convention’s schedule, which you can find here: http://www.mysterium.net/schedule/

The schedule is largely complete, but we may add another presentation or tweak some timing here and there. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Reminders

First, a reminder that the hotel room rate is only guaranteed if you book before July 1st, which is this Friday. If you haven’t had a chance to book your room, now is the time. And of course, don’t forget to register.

Second, a reminder that we have room and ride share forums available here: http://www.mysterium.net/forum/

Finally, a reminder that Chuck Carter (our guest of honor) has a Kickstarter for his next game that ends in just a few days. If you haven’t taken a look yet, I highly recommend it:

That’s all for now!

Special Guest – Chuck Carter

Greetings all, and a special welcome to any Obduction backers who are looking at Mysterium for the first time.

Special Guest

Today, we are happy to announce that we will have a special guest at Mysterium 2016: Chuck Carter will be joining us on Friday and Saturday to talk about his work and generally to hang out with the fans.

ChuckProfile

Chuck, along with Robyn Miller, created the artwork that brought the worlds of Myst to life. After Myst, he worked on a number of other games, including a number of titles at Westwood Studios. He has created artwork for TV shows like Babylon 5, Crusade, and Mortal Kombat Krusades, as well as for motion rides like “Star Trek: The Experience” and Disney’s “Mission to Mars”.

Today, he is the Founder and Creative Director for indie studio Eagre Games, working on their first game, Zed. I gave Zed a try at Pax East last weekend. Trust me, if you liked Myst you’re going to like Zed.

ZED_WebpageArt_2SM

We are very excited to have Chuck joining us. This is going to be a Mysterium you don’t want to miss!

Cyan

We are also happy to announce that Cyan will be involved in Mysterium in some way this year! We don’t know quite what type of involvement yet (whether it will be a video call or actual Cyan employees at the convention), but we will keep you updated as we learn more.

Deadlines

A reminder that Con Book submissions are due tomorrow, and event submissions are due this coming Monday. And don’t forget that registration is currently open!

We know many people are wondering about hotel information. We sincerely apologize for the delay in getting that to you, and we anticipate that we will be able to open hotel bookings in the first week or two of May. We are in the final steps of getting the contract signed right now.

Until next time,

-Taniith
