Mysterium 2017 Art Contest

Art Contest

This year, the art contest is bigger and better than ever! We’re seeking travel poster designs for which multiple entries will be chosen to be displayed around the convention room. In addition, one design will go on the back of this year’s shirts.

We encourage you to submit your designs in both shirt and poster formats. However, please note that the requirements for posters and t-shirts are slightly different, so please read this document carefully. If you have any questions, please send them to committee@mysterium.net.

The submissions deadline is April 14, 2017.

File Formats

Our preferred file formats are: .ai, .psd, .ps, .eps, .svg

We will also accept: .png, .tga, .pdf

Please do not submit: .gif, .bmp, .jpg, .doc

Files should use the CMYK color space.

Design Requirements

The theme for this year’s Mysterium is From Myst To Obduction: A Fantastic Voyage to Magical Worlds. You are encouraged to interpret this theme in your designs. Remember, we’re going for the travel agency poster style.

T-Shirt Designs

  • Up to four colors – these may contain halftones/shading, but no color blending/gradients
  • May use Falling Man logo
  • May contain Mysterium Location and Date
  • May contain the word “Mysterium”
  • Print size no less than 9” x 12” at 300 DPI

T-shirt art often visually represents the location Mysterium is being held, so feel free to work that into your design if you so choose.

Poster Designs

  • No color restrictions
  • May use Falling Man logo
  • May contain Mysterium Location and Date
  • May contain any other text appropriate to a travel poster (“Rolling Hills!”, “Swim in the crystal waters!”, etc)
  • Print size options: Postcard, 8.5×11”, or 11×17” at 300 DPI minimum.

Submission Rules

  • Entries must be sent to logo@mysterium.net no later than April 14th, 2017. Files should be compressed into ZIP format. Files under 10MB can be attached to the email. In the email, please include the title of your artwork and how you should be credited.
  • Entries not meeting submission guidelines will be discarded, and the submitter notified.
  • Entries are to be kept confidential until after the winners are announced. Entries found posted in any public format prior to that date will be disqualified. (This includes publicly asking people to look at your entry elsewhere, but does not include privately asking people for help.)
  • Screenshots from any of the games are not allowed.
  • The Committee reserves the right to make small design adjustments as needed to facilitate printing.
  • All submissions become the property of Cyan Worlds, Inc.
  • You may submit as many designs as you like. Please specify if it’s a poster or t-shirt. You may submit the same design for both provided the design requirements for each are met.

Have fun and good luck!
