The Mysterium Committee is pleased to announce that the location poll for Mysterium 2010 is now open! For those who are interested in attending next year’s Mysterium, this is your chance to have a say in where it’ll be held. The poll will close on July 18, so spread the word and vote!

(Drum roll, please!) The candidate cities are:

  • Dallas, Texas
  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • Kansas City, Missouri
  • Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • St. Louis, Missouri

To vote in the poll, please visit: http://www.mysterium.net/limesurvey/index.php?sid=42269. At the start of the poll, you will be presented with an overview of each city which will include general costs, travel information, and some interesting attractions. We encourage you to review each city before you make a decision. Please note that we are running the poll a bit differently than in 2008, so please read the directions carefully. If you have problems with the poll, contact the Location Subcommittee via the Contact Form.

We will be announcing the location during Mysterium 2009 (July 30 – August 2), so watch for the results on that weekend!

Thanks to each and every one of you for your continued excitement about Mysterium. Our only goal is to provide you the best Mysterium possible, and we look forward to 2010.

Mysterium 2009 Hotel Reservation Reminder

Attention Mysterium 2009 attendees!

This is a friendly reminder to reserve your hotel rooms now! You will be unable to receive the Mysterium group rate if you reserve after July 17. The group rate of $89/night can also be used 3 days before and after the event. Room reservations may be canceled as late as 4pm on the day you check in, so it is recommended that you reserve now even if you may not be able to make it.

The hotel’s reservation number is (509) 535-9000 and be sure to mention the “Mysterium Group” when you call!

If there are any problems, feel free to contact Odo via the contact form on the Mysterium website.

Mysterium 2009 Hotel Announcement

Shorah!

The Mysterium Committee is pleased to announce the hotel that will be used for Mysterium 2009. Due to the interest and attendance typically seen at Spokane Mysteriums, we have decided to use a different hotel this year that is closer to downtown and the airport, and which offers us more space and flexibility in organizing events and activities.

Mysterium 2009 will be held in the University District / Downtown Comfort Inn Suites [ Google Maps ]. (For those who like to use Street View, the hotel appears as the “Shilo Inn Hotel”, as it was just recently bought by Comfort Inn.)

Booking should be done via the hotel’s front desk at (509) 535-9000. Mention the Mysterium group to obtain our group rate and be booked within our room block. You may book a room for up to three days before and after the event using the Mysterium group rate. Rooms reserved under the group rate are $89/night plus tax for up to four occupants. AAA members and attendees in general are encouraged to check for the lowest possible rate; reserving this early may net discounted rates below the Mysterium group rate for individual travelers, but please be aware you will be booked outside of our room block.

Mysterium will be making use of the Pend O’reille (“pond-o-ray”) Room on the 5th floor throughout the weekend. The registration desk will be open officially starting at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 30th. If you are arriving on Thursday, an unofficial registration desk will be open starting at 5:30 PM so that you can pick up your registration packet and more easily meet up with other attendees.

ROOM & RIDE SHARING

The Mysterium Committee once again plans to provide tools for attendees to make room and ride sharing plans with each other. More information about these tools will be made available in the coming weeks. As always, the Mysterium Committee is not responsible for your travel plans or those with whom you choose to room.

TRANSPORTATION

The Comfort Inn Suites offers a complimentary airport/Amtrak/Greyhound station shuttle, which operates 7AM to 11PM. Details for a local attendee-run “shuttle” for anyone needing transportation to or from any of these locations outside of these hours are still being finalized.

Mysterium 2009 Date & Input Survey

Shorah!

As 2009 approaches, we are looking to you, the community, to give us input on Mysterium to help guide our planning efforts.  To that end, we have posted a new survey to gather feedback.  This survey will be open until November 16th.  If you are interested in attending Mysterium next year, please take a few minutes and fill it out.

We are interested in your preferences for the date of Mysterium, ranked from most-preferable, to least-preferable. The results will then be scaled; to give the most-preferable votes more weight and the least-preferable the least weight. This will allow a more accurate picture of which weekend people prefer, and it will allow us to easily determine a second choice.  Please be aware that the Mysterium Committee will do its best to schedule Mysterium for the most-preferred date, but that other factors such as cost and hotel availability may require us to alter our decision, in which case we will target the next most-preferred date.

Building on the success of Mysterium 2008, we are also seeking input on what you would like to see from Mysterium in the future.  Keep in mind that not everything in this survey may be on the schedule for 2009, but knowing what direction you would like to take this convention will help us fine-tune our planning process and increase our focus.

To participate in this survey, please click here or visit the Polls page.  Thank you in advance for your interest and participation.
