Shirts, Prizes, & Schedules, Oh My!

Shorah and greetings once again fellow Myst fans! Mysterium 2009 is just two months away! The Mysterium Planning Committee is gearing up for it at full steam, and we’ve got a boat-load of updates for you today.

T-SHIRTS

First, we’re pleased to officially announce our logo contest winners! Two of them, in fact! This years t-shirt designs are from the lovely and talented Jean Fioca, and the equally lovely and talented Claire ‘Shoomlah’ Hummell.

Jean created this year’s front design, a lighthearted celebration of the 10th Mysterium ever.

Claire gives us the back design, a unique representation of all the Myst games to date. See if you can spot all the references!

Our t-shirts will be screen-printed this year. Because of this, we are taking pre-orders on shirts with registrations to get an accurate estimate of how many we need to print. As a result, if you want to ensure you get a shirt, we strongly recommend that you pre-register! Shirts are $14 each for Small through XL sizes (and $15 for XXL shirts). You can order your shirts by visiting the Mysterium website and pre-registering to attend here.

Thank you to all our entrants, you make voting fun! All of this years entries can be viewed here.

PRIZES

Once again, the Mysterium committee is reaching out to our talented community for Myst-themed items that can be given away as prizes at this year’s events. Last year, people went home with limited edition Riven keychains, beautiful handmade books, and unique swag… what will we have for the attendees this year?

Please email eleri@mysterium.net to donate a prize. Thanks so much for helping make Mysterium happen!

Mysterium 2009 Logo Contest and Presentation Submissions

Hello community members! We have two new deadlines and one new contest to introduce to you today.

LOGO CONTEST:
Once again it’s time for the Annual Logo Contest! There have been some changes from past years, so please make sure you read the submission guidelines carefully. We’re excited to see what this year’s submissions hold!

The Mysterium 2009 Logo Contest Submission Deadline is March 31st. Detailed guidelines are available at http://www.mysterium.net/mysterium-2009/logo-contest-2009/

PRESENTATIONS:
Presentations have been a staple of past Mysteria, and this year is no different. We are offering several different formats to encourage a greater range of fan-led activities. Presentation requests should be made by May 31 via the form at http://www.mysterium.net/mysterium-2009/presentations-2009/.

In the coming weeks we’ll talk more about transportation and hotel offerings, so stay tuned for upcoming announcements!

Announcing Mysterium 2009 Q&A Session and Calls for Submission

Hello members of the Myst fan community! The Mysterium Committee has a few announcements to make today.

First, we’d like to announce that a special Q&A session with members of Mysterium Committee, to be held on January 17th at 5pm Pacific Time (8PM Eastern Time, 11PM GMT). The Q&A session will be held in the stoneship.org IRC server and CyanChat relay, which can be accessed at http://rel.to/IRC/cyanchat.php

Next we’d like to talk about calls for submissions.

COSPLAY:
We’d like to encourage people to make and wear costumes based on D’ni characters, either a recreation of something seen in the games, or a personal interpretation of Myst-themed wear. Prizes will be had!

COOKBOOK:
Look for an announcement within the next two weeks as we begin to put together the first ever D’niverse Cookbook with your favorite recipes!

We’ve started planning some of the events that will happen at this year’s Mysterium. Currently in the works is “What Would Atrus Build” 2; Marker Missions; Trivia; The Wolfie Memorial Water-coaster-park Extravaganza. Details on these events and more will come out as we approach the convention, so stay tuned for more event-related announcements.

I’d like to address a question that I know is pressing on the mind of many fans- what kind of involvement will Cyan have this year? We spoke to Rand about Mysterium in Spokane and he said “If we can, we will participate.” Currently no plans have been made beyond that at this time, but we will keep you informed.

EVENTS
Have we got some fun stuff planned for this year! Visit our Events Page for a preview!

PRIZES & MATERIALS
One of the things that makes Mysterium great is the amount of community involvement, and one way you can be involved – even if you aren’t able to attend Mysterium – is through the donation of prizes or materials.

If you create items that are directly related to the D’niverse (like Journey Cloths, or linking book replicas), or are thematically similar (like journals, or art of Age-like locations), we’d like to invite you to donate an item or two for prizes at Mysterium. In the past Mysterium has awarded prize winners journals, decorated cones, Journey Hand necklaces and more. Unique prizes are an inspiration to everyone!

If you have materials you think might be useful to us, like button blanks, or printer paper, we may be willing to find a use for them!

TRANSPORTATION
Jet Blue has several specials to Boston right now, check them out!
We recommend that attendees NOT use American Airlines if at all possible, given their new $15 fee for a standard checked bag.
Manchester Ariport (MHT) is less than 50miles from the hotel, and there is a free shuttle that goes from the airport to the regional transit center near the hotel. Booking a flight to that airport may be cheaper!
