Quick Hotel Update

Hi again!

I wanted to post a quick update about the hotel situation. Folks who tried to book yesterday were finding that they could not get Thursday and Sunday nights at our rate. We have spoken to the hotel, and they fixed the problem on their end this morning. We also now have a link so that you can book your rooms through the web! You can find that over on the Location page.

Many thanks to the people who brought this to our attention!

Announcing the Mysterium Hotel

Shorah All

At long last, we are ready to announce the hotel for Mysterium 2015!

I apologize for the long wait. This time around it ended up taking much longer than usual to secure a hotel with the rates that we all expect at Mysterium. But in the end, we managed to get a very nice hotel!

The hotel for Mysterium 2015 will be the Boston Marriott Burlington. We’ve negotiated a room rate of $115/night for a room with two queen beds. As always, the convention itself will take place in one of the hotel’s large meeting spaces on the first floor.

To book your room, and to see other information about the location and the hotel, please check out our Location page. We recommend reserving early, to make sure you get a room. And don’t forget to register for the weekend and buy a t-shirt here.

I also want to remind everyone that we are currently accepting submissions for events, as well as for the convention book.

As always, if you have any questions, comments, friendly jabs, or good baking recipes, please feel free to contact us.

Until next time,
-Taniith, Mysterium 2015 Chair

Conbook Submissions Are Open!

Shorah All

First, a very special welcome to anyone who is hearing about us because of the Arisia conbook. We hope to see some of you at Mysterium!

Things are moving right along with planning for this summer, so that means it is time to open up submissions for the Mysterium Convention Book. As with last year, we’ll be printing a digest-size conbook – 5.25″x8.25″. It will be a magazine-quality, full-color glossy publication printed through an on-demand print service. You can see (and order) examples of our older publications in our MagCloud store.

The goal of the conbook is to showcase the awesome creativity of our fandom. Are you a painter? Or a writer? Or a sculptor? Maybe you knit Squee plushies? Whatever you create, we want to see it and share it with the world! If you would like to submit something to the conbook, you can check out all of the submission guidelines at this page.

You will be fully credited in the book, and retain all rights to your work. The submission deadline is June 5th, but space is limited so be sure to submit early. As a reminder, our theme this year is Todelmer. Your submission doesn’t have to be focused on that theme, but it is a good place to start if you need ideas.

The conbook will be available to everyone who purchases a full weekend registration by June 15th as part of your ticket price.  So be sure to register! And don’t forget to snag one of our awesome T-shirts while you’re at it!

Finally, I just wanted to make a quick reminder that event submissions are currently open. If you have ideas for a panel, presentation, or other fun event, be sure to submit them!

Until next time.

Logo Contest Winners

Two posts in one week! What ever are we thinking?

Today, I’m excited to share the winners of our logo contest. We got several awesome entries, and I want to thank everyone who took the time to submit a logo. We couldn’t do this without you!

First up, we have the logo for the front of the shirt. This was designed by Mary Wienckowski, and beautifully melds Boston’s Zakim Bridge with our Todelmer theme.

And then we have the logo for the back of the shirt. This one was designed by Claire Hummel, known to many of you as Shoom’lah.

Congratulations to Mary and Claire! We can’t wait to see these awesome designs on our shirts, but alas, it’s going to be another 7 months before that happens. In the meantime though, you can pre-order your Mysterium shirt when you register for the convention.

That’s all for now!

Registration and Event Submissions Now Open!

Shorah friends,

Welcome to 2015! I hope everyone out there had a good new year. It is currently quite cold (and slightly snowy) in Boston, but I’m pretty sure all of that will clear up sometime in the 7 months before Mysterium.

But until it does, here’s some news!

Registration

Pre-Registration for Mysterium 2015 is now OPEN! You can check out all of the details here.

We are trying out a tiered pricing structure this year. Right now, you can get our early-bird pricing. Prices will increase in mid-June, so be sure to register early. The sooner we know how many people are coming, the easier it is to plan the rest of the convention.

Event Submissions

Mysterium is nothing without interesting panels and fun contests: Heek tournaments, marker missions, D’ni clocks, language lessons – over the years, we’ve had some awesome events. This year, attendees will even get to see an exclusive sneak-peek of Obduction, courtesy of Cyan!

But we can’t do it all without you! Do you have an idea for a fun panel, activity, contest, or anything else? If so, we want to hear about it! You can get all the details about event submissions over at our events page.

Hotel, T-shirts, and other things

Over the weekend, a group of us made a site visit to a hotel that looks very promising. We can’t give you the full details until the contracts are all signed, but we’re optimistic it should all be settled in the next week or two. Room pricing should be on par with our normal rates (~$105-110/night for 2 beds). We’ll let you know when we have everything settled.

Similarly, we are almost ready to announce our T-shirt logos, but not quite yet. We’re waiting on some small revisions from the two artists before posting them. But trust us, they are going to be *awesome*.

Finally, we’ll be opening conbook submissions very soon. So start getting your submissions ready, be they artwork, stories, articles, poetry, recipes, papercrafts, or whatever else you can think of!
